Wild Open Country Off-the-Beaten Path

Stunning Alaska Scenery

Access the best of the wilderness without an expensive flight or bumpy boat ride: Located in the remote northern Wrangell St. Elias National Park & Preserve, our working family lodge is a warm, friendly home away from home. Enjoy authentic Alaskan hospitality in this transformative national park setting with comfortable, fully-plumbed guest cabins and yurts, along with locally-sourced and wild-harvested cuisine. Our off-grid operation is sustainability in practice - from our solar panels and windmill to renewable heat sources and locally/ wild-harvested ingredients.

Owners Michael and Victoria Rego have been pouring their heart and soul into the lodge since 2018. Michael is a lifelong rural Alaskan whose experience and appreciation for this place runs deep, from helping his dad grow summer gardens above the Copper River every year and riding his bike down to hook into the legendary king salmon, he has spent countless hours on the land and enjoys sharing what he has learned with friends and travelers. He is also the engineer behind this operation and ensures reliable, continuous heat, power, water, and connectivity year-round. Victoria achieved her lifelong dream of working as an archaeologist in Alaska nearly 20 years ago and has called the place home ever since. Together, they are raising their children in one of the most beautiful wild places on earth, where the labors of their hands provide sustenance year-round and make this unique opportunity for guests possible.

Whether you're on vacation, hiking, fishing, stargazing, snowmachining, hunting, or working here in North America’s largest national park, we welcome you to our home. Though this area has no hotels, restaurants, or crowds for miles around, we provide the essentials and then some to make your trip comfortable, unforgettable, and truly unique. If you’re looking for the real, unedited, unscripted Alaska - you’ll find it here with us!

old favorite, new life

Originally carved from raw land in the 1950s, this homesteading site was eventually turned into “Sportsman's Paradise” - a truly one-of-a-kind lodge in North America’s largest national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. For over half a century this has been the place where wild souls experience incredible adventures and return year after year.

Constructed from beautiful salvaged bridge timbers by an inventive homesteader and his family, the main lodge has offered hunters, fishers, and explorers of all sorts a comfortable base to meet, visit, rest, and recharge. The lodge’s services have varied over the years, from fly-in hunting and fishing trips to tavern, cafe, liquor store, residence, and guest accommodations.

Today our family is improving the property with some much needed TLC and facility upgrades to ensure the best experience for our guests. The lodge and guest cabins are available year-round, with limited tavern hours in winter and a hot-water wash house Memorial Day - Labor Day. We are pleased to offer warm, friendly accommodation and welcome adventurers of all stripes to experience the beauty and tranquility of the place we call home.

We look forward to meeting you,

The Rego Family
