The Lodge

Wrangell Mountain Wilderness Lodge

The Lodge is tucked within Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve, North America’s biggest (yet little visited) national park and is part of one of the world’s largest internationally protected ecosystems as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Kluane National Park in Canada. Situated at the foot of the Mentasta Mountains surrounded by boreal forest, the lodge looks out on 16,237-foot Mount Sanford (sixth highest in the U.S. & third biggest volcano) and the Tanada Peaks.

The mountains help protect the lodge from weather extremes, in both summer and winter. The wide open skies over the lodge provide an excellent place to view the aurora (Northern Lights) from late August to early May.

A cozy room in the authentic historic Alaskan lodge. Hand-crafted queen log bed with all new linens, soft pillows, and warm blankets. Flat-screen TV with DVD player for watching a film from our large lending library. Steps from fully-plumbed wash rooms with sink, toilet, and shower. Meals available with advance reservations.
